Abstract: As a traditional Chinese medicinal material, Bletilla striata has hemostatic, swelling-reducing, and muscle-promoting effects. Its main active ingredient, Bletilla striata polysaccharides, has attracted extensive attention in recent years. This paper reviews the progress of polysaccharides derived from medicinal plants being used in advanced medical devices during modernization and transformation. Detailed analysis of Bletilla striata polysaccharides’ structural features reveals that they mainly consist of glucose and mannose, with molecular weights ranging from approximately 28 to 722 kDa. Bletilla striata polysaccharides can be formulated into innovative drug delivery systems such as hydrogels and microneedle patches, which significantly enhance their bioavailability. In the realm of medical devices, Bletilla striata polysaccharides can be used to produce hemostatic materials, wound dressings, and other products, demonstrating effective hemostasis and wound healing. Additionally, Bletilla striata polysaccharides show broad potential in cosmetics, food, and other fields. Future research should focus on clarifying the mechanisms of action of Bletilla striata polysaccharides, developing more efficient and safe medical device products based on these polysaccharides, and promoting the modernization, transformation, and upgrading of the Bletilla striata industry.
