Abstract: As the textile and apparel industry advances toward low-carbon and sustainable development, bio-based synthetic fibers are increasingly moving from pilot-scale use toward mainstream commercial applications, demonstrating strong market potential in apparel. Focusing on apparel as the primary application domain, this paper reviews several representative bio-based synthetic fibers currently in use, including bio-based polyamide 56 (PA56), bio-based poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT), polylactic acid (PLA), and bio-based elastane. The performance characteristics and typical application progress of these fiber materials are analyzed in detail. Building on this analysis, future development directions for bio-based synthetic fibers in apparel are discussed, aiming to provide references for material research and product development.
