Abstract: This paper summarizes the development trend of new-type polyesters, including LCP, PBT, PEN, and PLA, as well as technology progress of polyester fiber modification, such as copolymerization, blending, surface modification, profiled cross-section, composite spinning, spunbond, meltblown, and BCF. The application range and total amount of usage of polyester fibers are increasing in the end-use textile industries, especially in the technical textiles industry. In the end, the paper put forward severa development trends: reducing the cost of new polyester fibers by copolymerization and blending; using continuous industrial spinning technology to produce high-performance liquid crystal polyester fibers; achieving sustainable development goals in the field of technical textiles through improvements in fiber processing technology, reducing the negative impact on the environment and energy consumption; improving the safety of use and exploring technological advances in disposable textiles.
