Abstract: In recent years, the consumer market and production capacity of the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) have shown strong growth, stimulating the interest and investment of many biotech companies in the research and development of bio-based PET technology. At present, the research and development of feasible bio-based PET technology focus on bio-based ethylene glycol and drop-in terephthalic acid (TPA). The paper introduces the technical development status and related products of bio-based PET and new-type polyethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate (PEF) at home and abroad, and puts forward thoughts and suggestions on the future development of bio-based polyester in China.
