Methods to Improve International Competitiveness of Supply Chain for China’s Textile Industry

2020年6月23日

Abstract: The rich countries regard the integration of global resources as their national core competitiveness, and the recent outbreak of coronavirus pandemic has made supply chain security become a national strategy.Against this background, improving the control of China’s textile industry over international resources matters to build an efficient, safe, resilient, and sustainable international supply chain. Developing from a supply chain system focusing on developed countries, and a multi-polarized supply chain system with extensive participation of Asian countries, the international textile industry supply chain has transformed to a new type supply chain system characterized by both developed countries and fledgling economies focusing on improving the balanced strength of the supply chain. At this stage, the “China + South Asia + ASEAN” region dominated by China, the European Union and North America are the three major centers of the world’s textile supply chain. Based on the buyers-driven international supply chain of the textile industry and the shrinkage of the supply chain radius, the paper puts forward the main countermeasures to enhance the competitiveness of China’s textile industry in the international supply chain. On the one hand, China’s textile industry needs to transform its trading methods and integrate deeper and wider into the existing global supply chain system. On the other hand, build a China-dominant global production network that is collaborative, efficient, flexible and safe. At the same time, it is also necessary to make full use of information technology to reconstruct the supply chain process and innovate the management model of the supply chain.
