Abstract: Cellulose is difficult to dissolve in common solvents due to the high degree of crystallization and a great number of hydrogen bonds existing between and inside molecular, which, to certain extent, has handicapped the development of regenerated cellulose fiber industry. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new solvents for cellulose fiber. The paper first introduces the categories of solvents for regenerated cellulose fiber and then elaborates on the latest research progress of water-based solvents, ionic liquid solvents, NMMO, and high-concentration inorganic salt method for regenerated cellulose fiber production.
