Abstract: The paper first gives an overview of the classification of luminescent fibers, their luminescence mechanism, uses and the latest manufacturing technology available both at home and abroad. Then it introduces in details the varieties of luminescent materials and their luminescence mechanism and the research progress in the application of these materials in textiles and garment. Finally, it discusses the problems currently existing in applying luminescent materials in clothing and the future developing trends of luminescent materials.
