Abstract: In order to protect and inherit Yangzhou freehand embroidery techniques and skills, and promote the innovation and development of modern Chinese-style silk dress, this article explained the artistic characteristics and common embroidery methods of flower and bird patterns in Yangzhou freehand embroidery which is a representative of the intangible cultural heritage. Based on visiting Yangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum, Yangzhou embroidery masters’ studios and other workplaces and case analysis, this article made clear the decorative forms, color matching and techniques of Yangzhou freehand embroidery flower and bird patterns in modern Chinese-style silk dress, which provides a new way of thinking for the inheritance and development of Yangzhou embroidery skills and personalized design of modern Chinesestyle silk dress.
