Abstract: Paper resist dyed embroidery, a unique handcraft of China’s Buyi nationality, is on the verge of extinction. Based on an investigation tour to Tongmuling Village, a habitation of Buyi people and looking up relevant documents, the authors make an approach to the paper resist dyed embroidery technique from various aspects including embroidery tools and materials, process and aesthetic culture. It supplies a gap in the theoretical study of this traditional craftsmanship, and hereby arousing people’s attention to this unique traditional skill.
