Industrial Profits of China’s Textile Industry Above Designated Size up 5.7% in Jan.-Feb., 2025

According to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, the combined profit of China’s major industrial enterprises fell 0.3% year over year in the first two months of 2025.

Industrial firms with an annual main business revenue of at least 20 million yuan (about US$2.79 million) saw their combined profits reach 910.99 billion yuan during this period.

From January to February, the main business income of textile enterprises above the designated size totaled 333.9 billion yuan, increasing by 2.7% compared with the same period of the previous year; the profit of the textile industry totaled 7.28 billion yuan, with year-on-year growth of 5.7%. While the main business income of enterprises above the designated size in the garment and accessories industry reached 182.9 billion yuan, up by 3.4% year-on-year, the profit of the garment and accessories industry reached 7.28 billion yuan, with a year-on-year decline of 5.7%.

As for the performance of leather, fur, feather, and their products and footwear industry, their main business income reached 122.04 billion yuan, increasing by 0.8% year-on-year; their profit totaled 4.96 billion yuan, dropping by 9.5% year-on-year.

From January to February, the main business income of enterprises above designated size in the chemical fiber manufacturing industry was 154.15 billion yuan, down by 5.4% year-on-year, and its profit totaled 2.72 billion yuan, up by 11.5% year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the combined business revenue of China’s major industrial firms went up 2.8% year on year in this period, 0.7 percentage points faster than the 2024 whole-year growth rate.

NBS statistician Yu Weining said industrial enterprises continued to see sustained revenue growth in the first two months of 2025, creating favorable conditions for the recovery of corporate profits.
