Industrial Value-added of China’s Textile Industry up by 6.5% in the First Quarter of 2025

China’s value-added industrial output expanded 6.5% year on year in the first quarter of 2025, official data showed. The growth accelerated from a rise of 5.9% registered in the first two months. In March alone, the industrial output grew 7.7% from one year earlier, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

The industrial output is used to measure the activity of large enterprises, each with an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan (about US$2.77 million).

In the first quarter this year, the textile industry’s value-added output upped by 6.5%. By product, in March, the production of 405 out of 623 kinds of products increased year-on-year.

Among them, fabric output increased by 4.3% year-on-year in March to 2.9 billion meters and grew by 3.5% year-on-year from January to March to 7.5 billion meters. And the output of chemical fibers upped by 6.3% year-on-year in March to 7.71 million tons and grew by 6.5% year-on-year to 20.63 million tons in the first quarter.
