Industrial Value-added of China’s Textile Industry up by 5.1% in the First 10 Months

China’s value-added industrial output, an important economic indicator, expanded 5.3% year on year in October, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed. On a monthly basis, the industrial output edged up 0.41% in October from the previous month. During the January-October period, it rose 5.8% year on year. The industrial output measures the activity of enterprises each with an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan (about US$ 2.8 million).

From January to October, the textile industry’s value-added output upped by 5.1%. By product, in October, the production of 343 out of 619 kinds of products increased year-on-year.

Among them, fabric output increased by 1.1% year-on-year in October to 2.7 billion meters and grew by 2.0% year-on-year in the January to October period to 26 billion meters. And the output of chemical fibers upped by 4.1% year-on-year in October to 6.9 million tons and surged 9.1% year-on-year to 65.64 million in the first ten months.
