At present, the world faces prominent turbulence and transformation amid ongoing challenges brought about by changes unseen in a century. As the world economy continues to weaken this year, demand contraction, supply shock, and weakened expectations are intertwining with each other, which heaps great pressure on the global textile industry. Under such a context, the global textile industry should seize the strategic opportunities brought about by the landscape reshaping and technology iteration, turn pressure into motivation, and create industrial and supply chains featuring higher flexibility, stronger resilience, and greater sustainability.
Founded in 1904, the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Currently made up of nearly 30 Member Associations as well as nearly 100 Associate Members and Corporate Members. As the member association and chairman’s organization, China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) is actively committed to promoting ITMF as an industrial practice platform for building a community with a shared future for humanity.
China hosted the ITMF Annual Conference in Shanghai (2009) and Beijing (2014) respectively, which received high attention and positive comments from home and abroad. By holding the ITMF Annual Conference, China’s textile industry firmly supports trade liberalization and economic globalization, promoting the exchanges and cooperation among textile industries around the globe and boosting the development of an open world economy.
In addition to the ITMF Annual Conference, the CNTAC will continue to hold the sixth World Textile Merchandising Conference in Keqiao this year. The series conference has been successfully held five times since 2018, becoming a showcase of the new development paradigm of China’s textile industry, a platform for high-standard opening-up, and a stage for win-win cooperation and cooperative development. A series of events are under the conference, including the Theme Conference, Roundtable Forum of World-renowned Enterprises, Keqiao Fashion Week and Keqiao Textile Expo (AUT).
Today, the world is in a new period of turbulence and transformation. The textile industry can only tackle the challenges and tide over this trying time through greater solidarity and closer cooperation. With joint efforts of all parties, ITMF 2023 Annual Conference · Keqiao China & The Sixth World Textile Merchandising Conference will help the global textile industry to cope with common challenges, strengthen pragmatic cooperation and steer it onto a track of healthy and stable growth.
From the perspective of digitalization and circular economy, the theme conference will focus on structural adjustment, ecosystem restructuring, and responsible development of the global textile industry in the new period of turbulence and transformation; seeking opportunities for the global textile industry to drive world economic recovery as well as innovative solutions for open development, innovative development, integrated development, green development, and responsible development. On the one hand, the theme conference will discuss feasible strategies on how the textile industry can cope with new challenges such as high inflation, demand contraction, flexible supply, and consumption boost based on the digital-driven new trend, new technology, new consumption, and new form. On the other hand, the theme conference will explore feasible paths on how the industry can establish a green and circular production system and achieve healthy and sustainable development based on the new concept, new goal, new value and new mode of circular economy.
