Industrial Value-added of China's Textile Industry up 2.0% in April

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in April, China's value-added industrial output above designated size actually increased by 3.9% year-on-year (the growth rate hereinafter refers to price-adjusted actual growth rate), down 1.1% from April. It edged up 2.27% from the previous month. And it declined by 4.9% in January-April. By region, in April, the value-added industrial output grew 5.3% year-on-year in eastern regions, 4.5% in the central regions, 5.1% in the western regions and 2.8% in the northeast.


Industrial output, officially called industrial value added, is used to measure the activity of certain large enterprises with annual turnover of at least CNY 20 million (about US$ 2.9 million).

The manufacturing output increased by 5.0% year-on-year in April and decreased by 5.4% in the first four months. In April, the textile industry's value-added output upped by 2.0%, while it declined by 10.6% in January-April period. By product, in April, the production of 367 out of 612 kinds of products increased year-on-year. In the output of main products, the output of fabric fell by 21.8% year-on-year to 3.2 billion meters in April and decreased by 29.1% to 10.5 billion meters in January-April, while the output of chemical fibers increased by 2.7% to 5.19 million tons in April and declined by 5.0% to 17.53 million tons in January-April.
