Abstract: This paper reviews the major technological advancements in the raw materials, synthesis, spinning and forming, and product processing of PBT fibers over the last 10 years. It concludes that: the use of bio-based raw materials and biochemical technology offers significant advantages in reducing PBT raw material costs; optimal PBT synthesis processes and the use of new hydrolysis-resistant titanium catalysts are also beneficial for cost reduction and product performance improvement; direct spinning is an effective measure to enhance the overall competitiveness of PBT fiber, and advancements in monofilament spinning, composite spinning, and melt-blown spinning are expected. Furthermore, the advancement of application technology will aid in opening new markets for technical textiles using PBT fiber, leading to promising market prospects.
