Abstract: The Chinese painting, which represents the essence of Chinese traditional culture, is applied in the production of computerized flat knitting machines as a pattern element. The paper explores the restrictive factors in the extraction of traditional Chinese painting elements, including the width, the adjustment of the painting, the expression technique, the number of colors, and the overall layout, as well as the design of traditional Chinese painting elements, the selection of jacquard types, and the application of traditional Chinese painting elements. Introducing Chinese painting elements into knitwear design can provide a new choice for the pursuit of fashion and personality, and provide a reference for its application in computerized flat knitting machines.
