Abstract: This paper introduces the status-quo of research and development of biomass-based carbon fibers at home and abroad, focusing on production processes, product performance, and production cost of several varieties of biomass-based carbon fiber precursor, including lignin precursor, modified lignin precursor and lignin-based carbon nanofiber. In the end, in view of the development of carbon fiber industry, this paper puts forward the future development direction.
