Abstract: The paper analyzed the reason why denim apparel is timeless, as well as the necessity of developing new types of denim fabric and denim apparel as people’s concept of apparel has changed.Consumer’s demands for fashion, comfort and hygiene in denim apparel have promoted manufacturers to accelerate their development of new denim fabrics and denim yarns. Therefore, several new types of denim were born, including elastic denim, functional denim, light denim, knitted denim and imitation knitted denim, which have changed the pattern of conventional denim, i.e., single used material (cotton), heavy  denim (production of coarse yarn), and monotone color (indigo). The paper also made a brief analysis of the relevant technological measures adopted in the development and production of new denim and denim yarns,so that the developed products can meet the requirements of high-end denim apparel.
