Prediction of Tensile Strength and Model Verification of Aluminized Carbon Fiber Tow

Abstract: Referring to GB/T 3362 — 2017“Test Method for Tensile Properties of Carbon Fiber Multifilament”, this study used UTM5205X, 200 kN microcomputer-controlled electronic universal testing machine to determine the tensile strength of T300-3K aluminized carbon fiber tow. A model of aluminumplated carbon fiber tow was established in Pro/E, and it was imported into the finite element software ABAQUS for tensile simulation. The results showed that compared with the matrix aluminum film, the carbon fiber tow has a larger bearing capacity in the composite material, and the tensile stress-displacement simulation curve is more consistent with the experimental curve. The simulated value of the tensile strength of the aluminized carbon fiber tow was 941.3 MPa, and the experimental value was 911.6 MPa. The relative error was only 3.3%, which verifies the correctness of the model and the feasibility of simulation analysis,and guiding the design and engineering application of aluminized carbon fiber tows.
