Abstract: In order to understand the current status of functional clothing for physically challenged people,the paper introduces the functional requirements from three aspects, i.e., structural adaptability, wearing comfort and aesthetic property. It summarizes the main research results of functional clothing at home and abroad for physically challenged people, analyzes their different needs in three living states including longtime lying, sedentary and standing, and provides corresponding suggestions in terms of style structure, fabric choice, etc., aiming to easy-to-wear and comfortable wearing. In the end, from the design concept, intelligent apparel and garment industrialization, the paper looks forward to the prospect of the functional clothing for physically challenged people, and designs eight types of pants as a reference for future garment design in light of the research results.
