China’s value-added industrial output expanded 6.1% year on year in April, official data showed. The manufacturing sector saw its value-added output climb 6.6 percent year on year last month, with that of equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing up by 9.8 percent and 10 percent, respectively, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
In the first four months of this year, the country’s industrial output gained 6.4% compared to a year ago, the data showed.
The industrial output is used to measure the activity of large enterprises each with an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan (about US$2.78 million).
From January to April, the textile industry’s value-added output increased by 5.5%. By product, in April, the production of 341 out of 623 kinds of products increased year-on-year.
Among them, fabric output declined by 1.1% year-on-year in April to 2.7 billion meters and grew by 2.3% year-on-year from January to April to 10.1 billion meters. And the output of chemical fibers grew by 5.3% year-on-year in April to 7.3 million tons and increased 5.7% year-on-year to 27.81 million in the first four months.
