Abstract: The performance of a heat-resistant sizing agent for carbon fibers was investigated by testing the contact angle, surface energy, wear resistance, hairiness, interfacial shear strength, etc. of the sized carbon fibers. The effect of different concentration of the sizing agent on fiber was studied. It was shown that the decomposition temperature of the carbon fiber sizing agent is up to 340℃, and a concentration of 2.5, is the ideal parameter for the sizing process. Compared with the bare fibers, the fibers’ contact angle and amount of hairiness decreased after sizing, the surface energy, wear resistance and shear strength were significantly increased.
