Abstract: PS fiber is an ideal high temperature-resistant filtration material. The paper investigates the photostability and thermal stability of PPS as-spun fiber by means of surface morphology observation and mechanical property test. The results show that after dry and hot air treatment, the elongation at break of PPS fiber varies greatly and the breaking tenacity changed slightly, while boiling water treatment has significant influence on the breaking tenacity but little influence on the elongation at break. Therefore, PPS fiber is suitable for being used as filtration material under dry and hot environment. After light treatment, both breaking tenacity and elongation at break of PPS fiber decrease significantly, and the photostability is poor, so PPS fiber is not suitable for being directly exposed to outdoor environment.
