Abstract: Over the past few years, great progress has been made in the manufacturing technology of ring and traveler for spinning machine, which are reflected in improved quality of raw materials, upgraded manufacturing equipment and advanced surface treatment technology. The paper introduces the goals for upgrading the quality of ring and traveler, necessary requirements on ring and traveler and rational selection of ring and traveler. It proposes that the following relations should be properly handled when using and selecting ring and traveler: the relation between ring diameter and spindle speed, the relation between life cycle of ring and traveler and yarn quality, the relation between spun yarn breakage and spindle speed, and the relation between yarn variety and selected ring and traveler.
