01 Production

According to the National Bureau of Statistics data, from January to July, the industrial added value of apparel enterprises above the designated size was unchanged from last year, 0.6 percentage points higher than the performance of the first half of this year. The garment production of enterprises above the designated size totaled 11.64 billion pieces, up 4.49% year-on-year.

02 Domestic Sales

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to July, the total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 27.37 trillion yuan, up by 3.5% year-on-year. Thereinto, the retail sales of clothing by major retailers above the designated size totaled 581.88 billion, up by 0.1% year-on-year. The total online sales of wearable items increased by 6.3% year-on-year in the January to July period, 0.7 percentage points slower than the first half of 2024.

03 Export

According to the Customs Newsletters, China’s garment and accessories exports totaled US$ 88.98 billion in the first seven months, decreasing 0.8% year-on-year, 0.8 percentage points lower than the first half of this year.

In July alone, clothing exports reached US$ 15.25 billion, seeing a decrease of 3.6% year-on-year.

04 Investment

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to July, the fixed-asset investment in China’s garment industry surged by 14.5% year-on-year, 0.5 percentage points higher than the first half of 2024.

05 Benefit

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to July, the main business income of apparel enterprises above the designated size totaled about 674.35 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 1.29%, 0.27 percentage points faster than that of the first half. The total profit was 29.06 billion yuan, down by 0.08% year-on-year, 1.73 percentage points slower than that of the first half of this year. The margin of operating was 4.31%, 0.07 percentage points higher than H1.
