China's Textile and Apparel Exports up 9.5% in 2020

In 2020, with the strong support of the policy of "ensuring stable foreign investment" and the joint efforts of all foreign trade enterprises, China's textiles and apparel industry withstood the huge impact of the epidemic and achieved rapid growth in exports throughout 2020, becoming a driving force for the growth of national trade in goods.


According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, in 2020, China's textile and apparel exports totaled US$ 291.22 billion, up by 9.5% year-on-year, driving the overall export of goods trade across the country to increase by 1%. Among them, the export of textiles has achieved growth for nine consecutive months since April in 2020, and the export of apparel has rebounded since August, achieving growth for five consecutive months.


In CNY-denominated terms, from January to December 2020, the cumulative export of textiles and apparel reached more than CNY 2.02 trillion, increased by 10.2% year-on-year. Thereinto, textile exports totaled about CNY 1.07 trillion, surged by 30.4%; apparel exports were CNY 952.03 billion, down 6%. In December, textile and apparel exports were CNY 172.67 billion, down 1.5%. Among them, textile exports reached CNY 81.04 billion, up 4.7%; apparel exports were CNY 91.63 billion, down 6.4%.


In US$-denominated terms, from January to December 2020, textile and apparel exports totaled US$ 291.21 billion, up by 9.5% year-on-year. Thereinto, textile exports were US$ 153.83 billion, surged by 29.2% year-on-year. And apparel exports were US$ 137.38 billion, decreased by 6.4%. In December, textile and apparel exports reached US$ 26.2 billion, increased by 7.2%. Among them, textile exports were US$ 12.29 billion, up by 12.7% year-on-year. And apparel exports were US$ 13.91 billion, up by 2.7%.
