Application Progress of Carbon Fiber in Wind Turbine Blades

Abstract: The carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals will promote wind energy, important renewable energy, in high-speed growth. Ever higher market requirements for the technical development of wind turbine blades require large-scale and lightweight blades. Therefore, lightweight and high-strength carbon fiber is the inevitable choice for the reinforcement materials of ultra-large blades. The paper introduces the current development of the wind power market and expounds on the market penetration of carbon fiber blades based on the advantages of carbon fiber application. Furthermore, it analyzes the constraints of carbon fibers, especially domestic carbon fiber, in the large-scale application of wind turbine blades based on the progress of forming technology of carbon fiber spar cap blades as well as the carbon fiber industry chain, and put forward suggestions for the future development of the carbon fiber blade industry.
