Abstract: Developing warp-knitted fabrics from spun yarn is one of the key innovation projects of the warp-knitting sector and has witnessed rapid development recently. The recent development of warpknitted fabrics from spun yarn in China is presented first and then the requirements on the spun yarn quality, including breaking strength, surface hairiness and stretch performance are analyzed. Furthermore, technical difficulties and corresponding solutions in production are studied in terms of yarn property, warping techniques and knitting techniques. With cotton warp-knitted products as examples, the applications of warp-knitted products from spun yarn are analyzed and future development trends are illustrated based on the present situation of domestic warp-knitting industry. In the near future, warp-knitted products from spun yarn will be attached with more varieties in structures, superior quality and functional performance.
